Meet Ainoan Diniz

Tell us about your story with engineering and TPF.

AD: My story with engineering began in 2011 when I decided to leave the Bachelor of Mathematics course to join the Civil Engineering class at UFPE (Federal University of Pernambuco). In 2015 I joined TPF Engenharia as an intern, where I could learn about different aspects of engineering. Between 2016 and October 2018, I had the opportunity to work in the public sector, and then I returned to TPF, where I remain to this day.

What were the main projects you worked on?

AD: Since my internship, I have been working on consultancy projects. I worked on environmental impact studies, in order to meet permitting requirements of governmental bodies. Moreover, I also participated in developing and coordinating demand and feasibility studies of airports in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. 

Other projects in which I worked were the elaboration and coordination of a demand study for Nova Ferroeste, a railway with more than 1,300km in length; the coordination of the Maceió Port Development and Zoning Plan; elaboration of cargo projections for the Port of Suape, in the context of its Master Plan and consultancy for of solid waste management from urban demolition in Maceió. More recently, I started coordinating engineering projects for one of the largest energy players in Brazil. 

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

AD: The implementation of the Pavement Management System, where more than 6,000 kilometers of highways were inspected in Pernambuco. The system is part of the Caminhos de Pernambuco Program, where TPF is responsible for technical and operational support for program management. It was one of the biggest challenges in the consulting field, considering the amount of information generated and managed in a short period, in addition to all the innovation and new technologies involved.

What are your main professional lessons and what do they mean to you?

AD: Without a doubt, the most important professional lesson I learned at TPF is that you don't go anywhere alone. I could count on a team of people willing to learn, teach, and overcome challenges in all the projects I worked on. I had and still have leaders who challenge and motivate me and who are human, always exercising empathy.

What do you enjoy doing with your co-workers and in our offices?

AD: To have a cup of coffee and chat away! All the TPF offices that I had the opportunity to visit are modern, comfortable, and have relaxed environments. As a good coffee lover, the part I like the most is the coffee corner! 

What are your hobbies?

AD: Training is my greatest hobby! I consider myself very disciplined and in the gym is no different. Every day, I wake up early and reserve an hour and a half to care for myself. Over the course of the day, I always reserve some time for a good cup of coffee. In my spare time, I love to eat well and chat away with my family and friends!

What are your views on ESG and how do you contribute to it at TPF?

AD: ESG matters have gained space in recent years, giving the subject the attention it deserves. At TPF Brazil, I am part of an Advisory Committee dedicated to ESG initiatives, this platform allows us to discuss and spread best practices within our company. We're discussing actions to reduce business travels and waste production in our offices. 

If you could sum up TPF in three words, what would they be?

AD: It is a company of opportunities, diversity, and innovation! I want to reinforce that, far beyond technique, here we learn to value people.
